Common Purchases that Make Us Poorer

Thanks to msnMoney for this great article about ten purchases that make us poorer:

10 Things That Make You Poor

Some things I learned:

1. Smartphones are made to make unnecessary purchases easier.  Like we need that.

2. If you drive a car for your whole life, you might easily spend as much as a half a million dollars just to drive.  We need to think about if it's really worth it.

3. Buying a lottery ticket is a waste of money.  Oh, wait, I knew that.

4. Money market accounts aren't worth it.

5. Credit cards are made to make you spend more money for nothing.

6. Rent to Own stores are the biggest waste of money.  I learned that one the hard way.

7. Watching TV now costs the average user 83 dollars a month.

8. A house isn't usually an investment, but a money pit (as the movies taught us).

Thrift Store Fashion

If you need new clothes, you could find local clothes giveaways.  If you ladies need new clothes, there's usually plenty to choose from.

But if you want to have more selection and spend only a little money, then go to your local thrift store.  You'd be amazed what they have there:
This is a video from Jessi Arrington, who shows the variety of clothes you could pick up from a thrift store you have never been to before.

But there are some tricks to shopping at thrift stores-- what you see isn't always what you get.  Here are some tips for shopping for clothes at thrift stores:
